This antique, circa 1900, Oushak rug has a shaded ivory field with a central stepped lozenge medallion containing a flowerhead issuing soft-grey hooked stems surrounded by a variety of flowerheads and further cusped palmettes, a large light grey part palmette to each side and in each corner a variety angular flowering stems and cloud-bands alternating with stepped floral motifs, in a light grey border of angular flowerhead and arrow-motif vine between ivory scrolling ribbon-pattern and minor stripes, plain ivory outer stripe.
